RYAN WALLER MUSIC LESSONS
Guitar, Bass, and Singing
Private Music Lessons in Arlington, TX
I firmly believe that learning music should feel exciting, encouraging, and personal. Not intimidating!
At Ryan Waller Music Lessons, students learn music through one-on-one lessons built around their personal goals, favorite music, and experience level. Whether you’re a total beginner, a parent looking for the right teacher for your kid(s), or a musician looking to hone your craft, our lessons are designed to help you make real progress while genuinely enjoying the process.
I work with students in-person from Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas, Grand Prairie, and Mansfield, and we also offer online lessons. Our goal is to help people build a stronger connection to music, one lesson at a time!
About My Music Lessons
I’ve been around the block enough times to know that every student learns a little differently, so I’ve never really believed in a one-size-fits-all approach.
Students choose Ryan Waller Music Lessons because my lessons are:
✔ Personalized to each student
✔ Focused on real musical progress
✔ Built around the music that YOU enjoy
In a typical lesson, we’ll work on technique, songs, rhythm, music theory, ear training, or performance skills, depending on the student’s personal goals and interests. The goal is to give students structure while enjoying the process of learning music.
You deserve to learn how to play guitar in a way that feels structured, motivating, and fun! Whether you want to learn acoustic or electric guitar, we’ll cover everything from chords, strumming, and songs to lead guitar, music theory, and improvisation.
Whether you’re brand new to guitar or trying to break through a plateau, we’ll structure our lessons around your goals so you can learn how to shred and enjoy the process!
In our bass lessons, we’ll focus on helping you build a strong sense of rhythm, technique, and musical understanding. We can work on fingerstyle, picking technique, slap bass, music theory, and ear training, all while learning how to play your favorite songs!
Whether you’re starting from scratch or wanting to become a better player, we’ll work with you step-by-step to help you understand your role as a musician and a bass player.
Any great vocal teacher will tell you that every voice is unique, like an instrument, which is why my lessons focus on building a strong foundation first. We’ll go over breath control, pitch accuracy, and tone, while introducing more advanced techniques as you grow.
Our primary goal is to help you build confidence as a singer and unlock your full vocal potential in a way that feels natural and authentic to YOU.
Let’s Hear From My Students
“Great guitar instructor, Ryan takes the time to create individualized learning plans. Music lessons are not cookie-cutter lessons. Each student has their own interests and goals. Ryan incorporates these into each lesson, and his teaching style is easy to follow. He uses his skill and knowledge to craft lessons that are fun. At the end of the day, you take music lessons because you want to play music, Ryan will get you there.”
“Ryan is a very talented guitarist and an incredibly patient instructor. He really cares about helping you improve skills. I am a very slow learner musically, but Ryan has helped me improve my skills immensely. On top of that, he has a kind demeanor, which isn’t always the case with musically gifted instructors.”
I’m proud to be featured in an interview with VoyageDallas Magazine, highlighting local entrepreneurs and creatives in the DFW area!

I offer 30, 45, and 60-minute private lessons; recommendations vary depending on the student’s age, goals, and experience.
30-minute lessons are $35, which is a great option for younger students, beginners, or anyone who wants a shorter weekly lesson.
45-minute lessons are $50, which gives us a little more time to work on technique, songs, and questions without feeling rushed.
60-minute lessons are $60, which is best for students who want a deeper lesson, more detailed coaching, or extra time to work on multiple skills.
If you’re not sure which lesson length is the best fit, we can talk through it during your free trial lesson and choose the option that makes the most sense for you!

Not at all. You don’t need to know how to read music, sing confidently, or play anything before your first lesson. We’ll start with the basics, move at a comfortable pace, and build your confidence step by step.
-
We teach kids roughly ages 9 and up, teens, and adults. Lessons are adjusted based on the student’s age, experience level, personality, and goals, so a young beginner won’t have the same lesson structure as an adult picking music back up after years away.
For younger students, I focus on keeping lessons encouraging, structured, and easy to follow. For teens and adults, we can usually shape lessons more around specific songs, styles, technique, confidence, or long-term goals. The main goal is to meet each student where they are and help them make steady progress at a comfortable pace.
-
For guitar and bass lessons, having your own instrument at home is STRONGLY recommended, because regular practice is where most of your progress happens. If you’re brand new and not sure what to buy yet, I completely understand. We can help you choose an instrument that fits your goals and budget.
For singing lessons, you don’t NEED to buy an instrument, but having a way to practice with music at home (like a keyboard, piano app, backing tracks, or recordings) can be really helpful.
-
Both options are available! We offer in-person lessons for students in the Arlington, TX area, as well as online lessons for students who prefer to learn from home.
In-person lessons are a great fit if you want hands-on guidance and a consistent weekly routine. Online lessons can work really well if you need more flexibility, have a busy schedule, or live outside the immediate area. Either way, lessons are still personalized around your goals, experience level, and the music you want to learn.
-
That ultimately depends on the student’s age, goals, and schedule, but consistency is the most important factor. For most beginners, 10–15 minutes a day is a great place to start. As students get more comfortable, they can gradually build up to 20–30 minutes or more.
The goal is to make practice feel manageable, not overwhelming. Even a few focused minutes each day can help students build muscle memory, confidence, and steady progress between lessons.
-
It depends on your goals, how often you practice, and what “good” means to you, but most students can start noticing real progress within the first few weeks.
For beginners, the first goal is usually to build comfort: learning basic technique, playing simple songs, understanding rhythm, and developing confidence. With consistent lessons and regular practice at home, many students can start playing recognizable songs within a few months, or even a few weeks.
-
Most students do best with 1 lesson per week. Weekly lessons give you enough consistency to build momentum, ask questions, fix mistakes early, and keep making steady progress without feeling overwhelmed.
If you’re preparing for a performance, audition, recording, or a specific goal, more frequent lessons can sometimes help. If you have a busier schedule, occasional lessons can still be useful, but progress usually depends more on consistent practice between lessons.
For most beginners, weekly lessons are the best place to start.
